Honduras Capucas
Cooperative Capucas is located in the Celaque Mountains, one of the highest mountain regions in Honduras, in the National Park area known as the Biologico Mesoamericano. Elan Organic Coffees is the first importer to directly import coffee from the Cooperative, therefore this is the first time the farmers are being paid direct for their product. The Cooperative was developed in the early 1990's. The structure for the Cooperative was supported by local coffee funds. Capucas is comprised of 254 women and men, but only 10 make up the certified organic group of the Coop, 9 men and 1 woman. Within the Cooperative a small group of women roast and sell coffee from their farms into the local market.
