Elan Organic Coffees Celebrates Biodiversity and Sustainable Agriculture From Tree to Cup...
On Monday May 7th Elan Organic Coffees will bring together consumers, roasters, brokers and producers from around the world for two funfilled days of learning, recognition and of course-great coffee.
Participating in the two-day event will be representatives from the coffee communities of a number of nations including Australia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Peru and the United States.
The trip begins on May 7th at Noon with a bus trip from the SCAA convention in Long Beach to the world famous San Diego Zoo. Guests will be treated to a private, multi-lingual tour of the zoo, followed by an awards ceremony and a discussion with the zoo's Agricultural Engineer and members of the horticulture staff. A key element of this discussion with center on ECO-Q TM-Elan Code of Quality.
ECO-Q TM is based on over 18 years of experience sourcing high quality, cause-related coffees from around the world. At its core, ECO-Q TM creates a strong foundation that supports the 4 pillars of sustainability- Cup Quality, Biodiversity, Social Responsibility and Transparencey.
Day 1 will culminate with a spectacular Paella Party with Flamenco Dancers at the zoo, followed by a night cap at the Sunset Cliffs Inn overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Day 2 will begin bright and early with tours of some of San Diego's best specialty coffee roasters including Cafe Moto, Java Jones and Blue Bridge Coffee Roasters. Guests will lunch at the oldest and most famous coffee shop in downtown San Diego, Hessian Pannikin.
"It is an honor and a privilege to host representatives of coffee communites from all four continents of production. The Zoo's vision is to become a world leader at connecting people to wildlife and conservation. It is Elan's vision to make a difference while making a living. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to explore and discuss coffee quality and sustainable agriculture, we look forward to welcoming the coffee community to San Diego," said Karen Cebreros, Founder and CEO of Elan Organic Coffees.
